Movie - The Shining (1980)

The Classic 1980 Horror film by Director Stanley Kubrick based on the novel by Stephen King. To make things short, Jack, Wendy (his wife) and Danny (his son) go up to a mountain hotel (the Overlook Hotel) to take care of the place during the winter (when it pauses its operation). The Hotel is somewhat haunted and spirits of the dead begin to play with Jack's mind and convinces him that his wife is a threat to their 'special' son, Danny.

What begins as a normal film turned eerie when Danny talked to his imaginary friend, Tony, and Tony tells Danny that Jack would call to inform them that he got the job as the caretaker of the Overlook Hotel, and it was so.

As the movie unfolds, Jack encounters more strange characters throughout the Hotel and eventually turns mad (controlled by the spirit of the Hotel). Hence, his axe-wielding rage.

IN A NUTSHELL:

Pros: Nicholson's 'mad' portrayal, the boys acting, eerie feel to the movie, much better than horror films of today | Cons: Wendy was annoying, not so much like the book | Rating: 7.5/10
